Peugeot has recently revealed an updated iteration of its i-Cockpit cabin design. This latest version showcases a panoramic high-definition digital display positioned along the upper section of the dashboard, accompanied by capacitive control buttons that offer customizable options for the driver. The steering wheel is the same size as in the old i-Cockpit design, however, based on the photos, Peugeot has addressed the problem of the steering wheel blocking the dashboard.

The first car to feature this new will be the 3008 which is set to be released later this year. The new i-Cockpit will sport an expansive high-definition widescreen display, measuring a generous 21 inches. This screen will be curved and angled towards the driver for enhanced visibility. To create a floating effect, the display will be seamlessly mounted on the rear dashboard, remaining hidden from the passengers’ view. Adding to the immersive experience, LED mood lighting positioned beneath the screen will further emphasize the screen’s presence.

Located in the center of the dashboard, are a collection of touch-sensitive buttons that offer convenient programmable functionality. These buttons can be easily customized to suit your preferences, allowing drivers to set their favorite presets for various features such as contacts, navigation, heating, and more. Based on the photos of the cabin, Peugeot has done well in compacting all these features into a clean and sleek design, which is to be expected since it is Peugeot we’re talking about after all.

Peugeot has made another notable change by replacing the conventional gearshift lever in favor of a toggle switch-type control for the automatic gearbox. According to Peugeot, this decision was made with ergonomics in mind. Speaking of ergonomics, Peugeot made a small but important change in the i-Cocpkit’s steering wheel. While it still has touch-sensitive controls like before, the touch-sensitive controls in Peugeot vehicles incorporate a unique tactile clicking function. These buttons are only activated when they are physically pressed, providing a tangible feedback sensation. This innovative design ensures a more intuitive and user-friendly interaction with the controls.
