Chevrolet took the covers off the all-new Trax before the end of last year and it was a damn good-looking machine. Chevrolet did a ton of work with this new model, and the 2024 Trax debuted with a sleek and fresh exterior and interior along with a new engine.

The Trax had a five-year run in the country until it completely sold out in 2021. Following its departure, Chevrolet Philippines introduced the Tracker and a smaller version of the Trailblazer to cater to customers seeking options below their larger SUV models. However, just as one might have assumed the Trax was gone for good, Chevrolet Philippines gave us a curveball by confirming that the Trax is making a comeback to our country.

If you put the old Chevrolet Trax and the new one side by side, you wouldn’t guess that the two shared nameplates because of the extent of the Trax’s makeover. The updated model showcases a more sophisticated appearance. At the front, a prominent new grille takes center stage, accompanied by slender LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and LED headlights positioned just below them. Moving to the rear, the Trax features striking boomerang-style taillights and a fresh tailgate design. Overseas, the Trax is available with a choice of 17 or 18-inch wheels, so we could see those fitted on the models we get in the Philippines.

Chevrolet’s teaser unveiled the RS version as the showcased model. The RS variant of the Trax has a striking two-tone color scheme, complemented by sleek wheels which have a two-tone paint scheme as well. On the inside, the RS version features red contrast stitching and several other design changes to differentiate it from other variants. As for the lower Activ variant, we’ll have to wait until next month to see if Chevy is bringing that in as well.

Chevrolet Trax Interior

As of writing, the exact engine options for the Trax are still unconfirmed; however, going by what is available in other markets, Chevrolet Philippines has two engines to choose from. The first is a turbocharged 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine, delivering 137 hp and 162 Nm of torque. The second option is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine, that puts out 162 hp and 250 Nm of torque. As for transmission choices, the 1.2-liter engine may come paired with a six-speed automatic, while the 1.5-liter engine could be coupled with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) like the ones available over yonder in China.

If you’re interested in knowing more about the upcoming Trax, Chevrolet Philippines will be hosting a digital premiere for the SUV on its official Facebook page on July 4, 2023.
