Suzuki has expanded its lineup of mild-hybrid vehicles with the introduction of the XL7 Hybrid. Following in the footsteps of the Ertiga Hybrid, this new model is expected to be available in Southeast Asia, starting with its launch in Suzuki Indonesia. In addition to the mild-hybrid powertrain, the 2023 Suzuki XL7 Hybrid also boasts several interior and exterior enhancements.
Undoubtedly, the most significant feature of this model is its mild electrification. The XL7 Hybrid shares the same technology as the Ertiga Hybrid, meaning their specifications are identical. Under the hood, the XL7 Hybrid is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that produces 103 hp and 138 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a 12V lithium-ion battery and an integrated starter generator (ISG). Since it’s a mild hybrid, the XL7 cannot operate solely on battery power. Instead, the main fuel-saving advantage comes from the car’s stop-start system.
Interestingly, the XL7 Hybrid intended for the ASEAN market differs in terms of transmission compared to its Indian counterpart, the XL6 Hybrid. While the Indian version features a six-speed automatic transmission, the Indonesian unveiling still incorporates a conventional four-speed automatic. Alternatively, a five-speed manual transmission is also available. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the ASEAN model retains the K15B engine, whereas the K15C block is utilized in the Indian variant.
Suzuki unveils facelifted XL7 with hybrid technology
The Ertiga won’t be the sole model in Suzuki with hybrid tech anymore, with the arrival of the XL7 Hybrid.

Regarding other updates, the 2023 XL7 showcases a fresh grille design with a black chrome surround. The wheels have also been redesigned, and the rear of the vehicle now features smoked taillights. Noteworthy features include the ‘E-mirror’ system, which transforms the rear-view mirror into a camera, as well as cruise control and black wood trims on the dashboard.

Considering the XL7’s release in Indonesia, there’s a high likelihood that this mild hybrid MPV will also enter the Philippine market. If this occurs, the XL7 will stand out as the sole offering in its class to provide an electrified powertrain and an addition of another mild-hybrid vehicle alongside the Ertiga.
