Over in China, Chevrolet has been brewing something up for quite a while, and thanks to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, we finally know what it is. The ministry has recently released a new set of images showcasing upcoming vehicle models that have undergone homologation. Among these forthcoming vehicles is the Chevrolet Equinox, which sports a distinct appearance compared to the currently available Equinox in the United States. As the existing North American version has been on the market since 2017, it’s highly likely that the next-generation Equinox in the photos is also intended for the United States market. This new look is setting up the Equinox to be more in line with the look of the Trailblazer, Tracker, and the upcoming Trax.
Drawing inspiration from the new Trailblazer, the 2024 Equinox sports a similar front fascia, characterized by its striking dual-port grille and two-tier headlight configuration. Positioned at the top are sleek LED daytime running lights (DRLs), while the lower section is home to the main headlights. Meanwhile, at the rear, the Equinox showcases eye-catching inverted L-shaped LED taillights, accompanied by a tailgate featuring a trapezoidal recess.

On the side profile, the Equinox features creases that accentuate its rugged appearance. The Equinox showcases squared wheel arches, a refreshed greenhouse featuring a rising roofline, redesigned quarter glass panels, and muscular rear quarter fenders. These modifications contribute to a more robust and adventurous appearance, giving the Equinox a rugged and boxier appearance in comparison to its previous look.

Powering the 2024 Equinox, there are reports suggesting the SUV will be fitted with a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. This engine is anticipated to deliver 171 hp of power, while specific torque figures are still unknown. In addition, the Equinox’s transmission options are also unknown so we might have to wait for the official release to get a clear answer.
In terms of dimensions, the upcoming Equinox is expected to have measurements of approximately 4653 mm in length, 1902 mm in width, 1710 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2730 mm. A comparison alongside the Trailblazer crossover reveals that the 2024 Equinox will be longer by 253 mm, wider by 92 mm, and taller by 54 mm. We don’t know yet if the Equinox will join Chevrolet’s lineup or if the brand is keeping it within the Trax, Tracker, and Trailblazer crossovers. However, since Chevrolet is focused on providing more compact crossovers to its consumers, anything is possible for now.
