Chevrolet Philippines resurrects an old nameplate, and it’s not all new and ready for another round in the Philippines. If you remember the old Trax, the model was once a contender in the Subcompact crossover segment, only to be phased out in favor of the Tracker. Now, however, it appears that the model has graduated a bit, and fully matured.
Like a family member that’s now all-grown-up, we’ve finally reunited with the Trax once again, and this time it’s got more to offer for the 2024 year model.
Key exterior features of the New Generation Chevrolet Trax include projector headlamps paired with LED DRLs and your standard array of bulbs for the indicators. The rear is a combination LED-halogen taillamp as well. Chevrolet has also brought its new design language to the Trax, a design that it shares with the Tracker, Trailblazer, and even the Camaro to some extent. A long hood with a cross on the upper quarter of the grille, with accent red RS badging, and a black bowtie, really shouts modern Chevy.
The 2024 Chevrolet Trax enters the Philippine market

The rest of the car looks like a lifted wagon. Ground clearance is said to be at 185mm, which is about par for the crossover segment, and the more wagon-style models in the market today. The blue color that the model comes in is also quite the head-turner, and it’s one of the brightest colors that we’ve seen from the Golden Bowtie in a while.

For the mid and top-of-the-line variants, we get 18-inch wheels while the base LT trim receives 17s, also done in aluminum alloy. It’s also great to see that the wheel designs between all trims are different, with the Red Line getting a black and red set, while the RS gets a two-tone finish.

The interior of the 2024 Trax is all new, and nothing like its predecessor. The New Generation brings with it a slew of enhancements that bring this car into the modern era such as an 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver also gets an eight-inch touchscreen for the Redline and the RS variants. The LT will get analog gauges along with a 3.5-inch monochrome display. A push-start system is available as well as keyless entry for extra convenience. All variants will get automatic climate control as standard, rear air vents, a multi-function steering wheel with a heating function, and also auto-leveling headlights.

Features that are exclusive to the top-of-the-line RS variant include an electric sunroof, eight-way power adjustable driver seat, and an adjustable power tailgate for extra convenience.

For safety, you get up to six airbags, seatbelts with emergency locking retractors, stability control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, engine drag control, panic brake assist, hill-start assist, torque vectoring, and rollover mitigation.

The powertrain in the New Generation Chevy Trax is a 1.2-liter turbocharged CSS Prime three-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and Variable Valve Timing (VVT). The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and it punches out 137 hp and 220 Nm of torque and it’s front-wheel drive.

As for its price, the Trax will now stand as the most premium crossover offering from Chevrolet Philippines, starting at P1,793,888 for the LT, P1,866,888 for the Redline, and finally P1,948,888 for the RS.
