This is rooted from our brand vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ wherein we believe that mobility is more than going from one place to another, rather connecting people with quality time and enabling them to get more out of life. Which led us to us forming ‘Hyundai Accelerate’.” Dongwook Lee President, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. This project is a special one, as it not only cultivates teaching moments, but more importantly uplifts the lives of our future mentees. Let alone, our first major CSR ad hoc as HMPH. So, we look forward to meeting our first batch of scholars and becoming a part of their journey.” HMPH Hyundai Accelerate Inline1 As for the place HMPH chose to launch this program, the Don Bosco Institute of Makati, founded in 1954, is a renowned private school exclusively for boys. It offers educational programs for Elementary, Junior High School, Senior High School, and Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The TVET curriculum focuses on specialized courses that equip students for careers as automobile mechanics, general electricians, fitter machinists, refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanics, or industrial electronics professionals. Situated on Chino Roces Avenue in Makati City, the institute’s campus will serve as the training and camp location for HMPH’s inaugural cohort of students. Hyundai Accelerate Program In the current year, HMPH plans to enroll a total of 40 deserving candidates from the National Capital Region (NCR) for the automotive program offered by the mentioned school. The initial 10 slots will be filled through nominations from DepEd TAPAT, while the remaining 30 positions will be carefully assessed and recommended by the local government units of Pasig City and Quezon City. The scholars participating in the program will engage in an eight-month curriculum consisting of both classroom-based learning and practical lessons. Following this, they will undergo four months of on-the-job training (OJT) at the nearest Hyundai service center. To evaluate their competency and commitment to potential employment with HMPH’s dealer partners, quarterly and mid-term progress reports will be conducted. In the automotive industry, particularly in the realm of mechanics and technicians the barrier to entry is steep. There are numerous hidden talents who could be a professional in the future, all they need is a push in the right direction and a helping hand.
