It’s a bittersweet time to be a fan of diesel-powered Jeep pickup trucks as Jeep is bringing out the swan song for the Gladiator’s V6 diesel engine with the 2023 limited-run Jeep Gladiator Rubicon FarOut edition. Yes, this limited production version of the Gladiator will be the final resting place of the EcoDiesel V6.
Capable of generating 260 horsepower and an impressive 599 Nm of torque, the Gladiator Rubicon FarOut sets itself apart from the crowd of diesel Jeep pickups. It showcases unique enhancements, including a special “Diesel 3.0L” graphic on the hood, distinct tailgate badging, 17-inch black polished aluminum wheels, a leather-clad interior, chunky 33-inch mud-terrain tires, and a sturdy steel front bumper, among an array of other features.

The powerful EcoDiesel V6 engine is paired with an eight-speed ZF 8HP gearbox transferring power to all four wheels. Jeep claims that in a single fill-up, the Jeep Gladiator FarOut can reach up to 800 km of range. Sending power from the driveshaft to the wheels are robust Dana 44 front and rear axles, in addition to a two-speed transfer case featuring a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. This setup allows the Gladiator to conquer the great American outdoors straight out of the showroom.

“As the Jeep brand continues its drive to electrification, we are phasing out EcoDiesel technology with the final, limited-edition Gladiator Rubicon FarOut. Limited to 1,000 vehicles for the 2023 model year, the special-edition Gladiator Rubicon FarOut further builds on the industry’s only open-air pickup truck infused with Trail Rated capability and best-in-class truck utility.”

Senior vice president and head of Jeep North America
Over in the free country of America, the limited-run Gladiator has a price tag of $69,995 USD which translates to about P3,971,271 when converted to Pesos—taxes not included. Here in the Philippines, the Jeep Gladiator is only available with the gasoline-powered Pentastar V6, so news of Jeep abandoning the diesel engine might be easier to swallow.
