Moving back a bit to the car’s looks, the Cooper, as well as the Countryman feature MINI’s new design language, called Charismatic Simplicity. This design language uses the traditional MINI look and simplifies it, reducing the flair for a more clean appearance.

Inside the vehicle, MINI’s designers have gone with a minimalist approach, simplifying everything by removing unnecessary components. As a result, the dashboard now has a circular 9.44-inch central display running the MINI Operating System 9. This system, developed in-house by the BMW Group, is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack.

“The new Mini Operating System 9 is characterized by simple, emotional touch operation that is specific to Mini. Together with the new cloud-based Mini Navigation for particularly precise and fast route calculation, high-speed connectivity, and optional 5G capability, the new Mini Cooper takes a giant leap into the digital world, thereby underlining the brand’s charismatic heritage.”

Stefanie Wurst
Head, MINI Brand at BMW Group

Powering the Cooper E is a 40.7-kilowatt-hour battery, situated on the vehicle’s floor offering a WLTP-rated range of 305 km. This model supports DC fast charging at speeds of up to 75 kW. In contrast, the higher-powered Cooper SE boasts a slightly larger 54.2-kWh battery pack, boosting its estimated range to 402 km, with a DC fast charging capacity of 95 kW. Both models are capable of AC charging at rates of up to 11 kW. In terms of time, charging the electric hatchback from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes or so.
