Weeks ahead of the start of the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, Mitsubishi Motors is already giving us a taste of what they have in store. According to recent press releases sent out by Mitsubishi, the theme for this year is dedicated to the exploration of the great outdoors.
In a sneak peek, the automaker has offered a tantalizing glimpse, featuring a group of adventurers alongside the mysterious silhouette of a vehicle that appears to be a vision of Mitsubishi’s future. Yesterday, the brand revealed that this mystery vehicle is an electrified crossover MPV.

The upcoming concept, which is still awaiting a name, will seamlessly merge the off-road capabilities of a crossover with the versatile utility of a multi-purpose vehicle. In the press release, Mitsubishi uses the terms “electrified” and “electric” to describe its drivetrain, so we are still unsure whether or not this MPV concept will be a hybrid or a pure electric vehicle. What is a sure thing about the MPV though is that it will have a high ground clearance, a spacious cabin, an electric four-wheel drive system, and chunky off-road tires.

What is a sure thing about the MPV though is that it will have a high ground clearance, a spacious cabin, an electric four-wheel drive system, and chunky off-road tires.

As for its looks, the first teaser gave us a good look at the front fascia of the concept car revealing a tall body, t-shaped headlights, and a wide windshield. The second teaser meanwhile provided a more detailed look at the concept’s rear area. The back of the concept gives us a clearer vision of the body, a spacious glass area, and T-shaped taillights reminiscent of the headlights. In addition, the MPV concept carries a big cargo box on its roof, the sides feature no door handles, and the side mirrors appear to be replaced by cameras, judging by the complete lack of mirrors on the stem.
In addition to the electrified crossover MPV, Mitsubishi Motors will feature a comprehensive 10-vehicle lineup at the event. This array includes a second concept known as the “Last 1-mile Mobility” vehicle, currently available production models like the Outlander PHEV and the Delica D:5, along with all-new Triton.
