The second-generation Subaru BRZ has now officially made its entry into Italy. In the country, Subaru Italy has launched a special edition version called the BRZ Touge Edition to celebrate the occasion. The word Touge means mountain pass in Japanese and it became a mainstream word in automotive culture due to the popularity of street racing in Japan.
In any case, let’s take a look at what the BRZ Touge Edition brings to the table. First, we have the wheels, which are 18-inch OZ Racing Ultraleggera Race Gold wheels with distinctive Touge logos and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 215/40 tires. The word “Ultra” in Ultraleggera is not an exaggeration because these wheels weigh in at just 8.7 kg each. For buyers that don’t want the flashy wheels though, they have the option to opt for standard 18-inch wheels finished in Dark Gray, which are paired with Yokohama BluEarth Winter V905 tires.

The second-generation Subaru BRZ has now officially made its entry into Italy. In any case, let’s take a look at what the BRZ Touge Edition brings to the table. First, we have the wheels, which are 18-inch OZ Racing Ultraleggera Race Gold wheels with distinctive Touge logos and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 215/40 tires. The unique version of the BRZ receives a subtle STI kit that includes front and rear spoilers, along with side skirts, enhancing the aesthetics of the Blue Pearl exterior. In the rear, the dual exhaust tips are part of an Italian-crafted Supersprint system, complete with distinctive finishers displaying “Subaru BRZ Touge” lettering and the Japanese characters representing “mountain pass.” We don’t know if it’s in Katakana, Hiragana, or Kanji so let’s just say it’s written in Japanese.
Powering the BRZ Touge is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter gasoline engine, generating 231 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Interestingly, here in the Philippines, the BRZ gets an additional two hp but with the same torque figures. Italy’s unique edition comes on the heels of Japan’s BRZ STI Sport, which was unveiled last month, and the BRZ tS, which was introduced in the United States back in July. Meanwhile, the GR86, its sibling model, is well-acquainted with special editions, having received the AE86 40th Anniversary Edition in Japan in September, mirroring the Trueno Edition available in the United States.
As for the price? The Touge Edition is priced at a very Italian €49,500 EUR, or around P2,961,981 when converted to our currency. That’s a price gap of more than P300,000 when compared to the range-topping BRZ AT Eyesight.
