The Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) has put out an announcement regarding temporary road closures in anticipation of the upcoming Asics Rock “n” Roll Running Series scheduled for November 26.
If you’re planning on going for a night stroll or simply driving through the heart of Manila at night on the weekend, we advise you to search for an alternative route now because the road closures extend from the Intramuros area all the way to Bonifacio Drive and Roxas Boulevard.

The marathon is set to commence at Rizal Park and will traverse through the city’s historic landmarks, passing through iconic sites such as the National Museum, Manila City Hall, Kartilya ng Katipunan, and the fortified enclave of Intramuros.
As for the event itself, the Asics Rock “n” Roll Manila marathon is one of the world’s largest running series organized by IRONMAN Philippines and is held once a year in various countries. The inaugural event in Southeast Asia was famously held here in the Philippines. Ironman Philippines as you may already know, also organizes a series of long-distance triathlon races in the country. The Rock “n” Roll Manila marathon will include a marathon, half-marathon, 10 km, and 5 km events that will kick off at midnight on November 26, 2023.

- Bonifacio Drive (from Anda Circle to Katigbak Drive)
- Katigbak Drive and South Drive
- Independence Road
- Roxas Boulevard (from Katigbak Drive to Pres. Quirino Avenue)
- Burgos Avenue (from Roxas Boulevard to Jones, McArthur, and Quezon Bridges)
- Ma. Orosa Street (from P. Burgos to Kalaw)
- Finance Road (from P. Burgos Avenue to Taft Avenue)
- The northbound lane of Taft Avenue from Ayala Boulevard to P. Burgos Avenue (Two Lanes only)
- Muralla Street (from Sta. Lucia Street to Real Street)
- Real Street (from Muralla Street to Sta. Lucia Street)
- Sta. Lucia Street (from Real Street to Muralla Street)
- Quintin Paredes Street (from Jones Bridge to Ongpin Street)
Before the weekend comes, make sure to plan an alternative route to avoid getting stuck in Manila.
