GAC Philippines reveals more details and specs for its upcoming M8
GAC Motor Philippines has released an initial list of specs to expect for its luxury minivan coming early next year.

The M8 is coming next year, and GAC’s already previewed the model and divulged a few details while they were at it. We can expect the minivan to launch early next year, and alongside another promising seven-seater, the M6 Pro.
Shifting our attention solely onto the 2024 GAC M8, however, you could say that we’re already excited to see this car plying the roads of the metro and beyond. It looks great, it has a lot of detail to it, and it’s got a lot of presence about it. Though GAC did only preview it in person, no keys were handed over and the car was locked which led us to wonder “What are the specs and features we can expect?”
After the event, GAC chimed in with a few more details, not enough for a full spec sheet, but enough to get us excited.
It’s a seven-seater in a 2-2-3 configuration. The middle row will have a pair of captains’ chairs. The engine will be a 2.0-liter TGDI engine, which is to say that it is turbocharged, and makes 248 hp and 400 Nm of torque, similar to what we will find in the GAC GS8. That engine will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission as per GAC.
We know that there is a hybrid variant available in China, but GAC has neither confirmed nor denied whether or not they’re bringing an electrified model into the Philippines. Still, the gasoline engine is plenty powerful enough, as we’ve tested in the GS8.
As for the other features, the GAC M8 will come with multi-function LED headlights, a wide chrome grille, and a set of 18-inch wheels with weighted hub caps (that means the logo will always be upright even when the wheel is rolling).
On the inside, the M8 will definitely be like a lounge on wheels thanks to those two captains’ chairs, but the brand takes it a step further with three-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustability for the captains’ chairs, and even a massage function for a true VIP experience on four wheels. In addition to that, the M8 will also get two table trays for the rear, and multiple charging points in the form of USB ports.
Technology features are also quite impressive on paper as the M8 will come with a 14.6-inch multifunctional touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife, and the driver will also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Finally, GAC Philippines reiterated its target prices for the 2024 M8. The car will start at P3,000,000 to P3,100,000 for the base GL trim, and P4,000,000 to P4,100,000 for the top-of-the-line GX Master variant.
So there will be two variants on offer, but the brand hasn’t made it clear whether the model previewed and the specifications featured were for the base GL or the top trim GX Master. It’ll be interesting to see whether GAC Motor Philippines will offer the GL with these features, or whether it will be for the GX Master. Either way, we’ll publish more details as they come.
