If you frequently travel to and from Cavite, or if you live there, chances are that you have passed by the Molino-Daang Hari flyover. This flyover has been the topic of conversation for many Caviteños since the project started in 2016, with the flyover even being dubbed the “The Great Wall of Molino”.

The flyover has been closed off to the public until December 12, 2023, when the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officially opened the flyover for public use. Attending the project’s inauguration on behalf of DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan were DPWH Undersecretary Roberto R. Bernardo, DPWH Regional Office 4A Director Jovel G. Mendoza, and DPWH Cavite 3rd District Engineer Donnie D. Cuna. They were accompanied by local officials, including Cavite 2nd District Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla, AGIMAT Party List Rep. Bryan Revilla, Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla, and Mr. Lorenzo Leon Calingasan IV, Assistant Vice President for Operations at SM Supermalls.

According to DPWH Regional Director Jovel Mendoza, the newly opened flyover is expected to cut the travel time between Barangays Molino III and Molino IV in Bacoor City and neighboring towns by 15 to 30 minutes. He also mentioned that the multi-year project received P240 million in 2016 as an initial allocation. An additional allocation of P311 million was given to the project in 2018 and another P150 million in 2022.

“The Molino-Daang Hari Flyover, though still in progress, marks a significant step toward enhancing transportation infrastructure and fostering economic growth in Bacoor and its surrounding areas.”

The project doesn’t end there though as the DPWH is set to submit a proposal for an extra P765 million for the project, aiming to transform it into a four-lane flyover. This additional funding is intended to finance the remaining civil work required for additional lanes and to facilitate the acquisition of road right-of-way. What this all means is that while the flyover is open to the public, the project is still not close to completion.
