Established in 2012, the China COTY Awards are widely regarded as the most fair and authoritative in the country. Judging is conducted by a panel of 48 prominent automotive journalists and key opinion leaders (KOLs) from across China. The awards feature seven categories, including the overall ‘Car of the Year’ in China, alongside six others dedicated to specific vehicle types.

The IONIQ 5 N’s remarkable performance and innovation were first acknowledged in early November when it was named a Top 10 Finalist in the ‘Performance Car of the Year’ category for the 2025 China COTY Awards. By November 22, it advanced to the Top 3, competing with Lynk & Co and Mercedes-Benz. This milestone reflects the rigorous test drives conducted by the judges, who evaluated 112 models across seven categories. The high scores awarded to the IONIQ 5 N emphasize its outstanding performance and cutting-edge features.

“Hyundai N made its debut in the Chinese market last year and has actively showcased the company’s high-performance electrification technology through the launch of IONIQ 5 N this year. “Moving forward, we will continue to expand the unique and exciting experiences offered by the Hyundai N brand to strengthen our position in the Chinese market.”

After its major achievements, Hyundai Motor announced that it is strengthening its footprint in the Chinese market with a dual focus on electric vehicles (EVs) and its high-performance N brand. Introduced at the 2023 Shanghai International Motor Show, the N brand plays a key role in Hyundai’s strategy for the world’s largest automotive market. Hopefully, this success will also translate into more high-performance Hyundai vehicles in the future.
