H1509003 Girlfriend Inabuso ang Matandang Kasambahay

If you’re worried that two of Mitsubishi’s biggest nameplates in the country won’t get a next-generation model, we’ve got news to ease the tension. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has confirmed that two of its current models will soon be revived with next-generation versions. The automaker announced that updated versions of the Xpander MPV and the Pajero Sport, also known as the Montero Sport here, are on the way. An announcement that couldn’t have come at a better time, as both aforementioned models are really getting up there in terms of age.

This announcement was made during MMC’s full-year financial results for fiscal year 2024. As part of its future product rollout strategy, Mitsubishi revealed plans to launch the all-new Xpander and Montero Sport beyond 2025. These will be accompanied by two new global models and two new battery electric vehicles (BEVs). So, while that means we’re not the new Montero Sport and Xpander now, at least there’s assurance that they will return.

Mitsubishi Product Lineup

Mitsubishi’s upcoming lineup also includes the production version of the DST, originally unveiled as a concept at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). This 7-seater compact crossover SUV will be based on the B-SUV XForce platform and will feature a front-wheel drive layout with five selectable drive modes.

Mitsubishi DST

The DST is scheduled for launch within the 2025 fiscal year, suggesting it may debut sooner rather than later. There’s also growing anticipation that Mitsubishi might manufacture the DST locally in the Philippines.

In addition, Mitsubishi is planning to enter the local van market through a partnership with Nissan. While both companies have remained tight-lipped about the van’s design and platform, it’s widely speculated that it will be based on the Nissan NV350 Urvan.

Outside the Philippines, Mitsubishi has a broader product rollout in the works. This includes a next-generation Kei car and a new compact all-electric SUV, which will be based on the upcoming Nissan Leaf. The automaker is also preparing to launch an all-new Grandis, which is rumored to be based on the Renault Symbioz for the European market.

Exciting times lie ahead for Mitsubishi. We’ll keep you updated on the latest developments from the Japanese automaker. In the meantime, visit the Mitsubishi Car Guide on AutoDeal.com.ph to explore your next potential ride.
