Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) recently concluded the 18th edition of its long-standing Isuzu Service Skills Olympics (ISSO) at the company’s assembly plant in Laguna. This annual competition serves as a platform for Isuzu’s dealer network to showcase the technical competency and service knowledge of their Aftersales personnel across the country.

The ISSO attracted participation from 29 teams representing different dealerships nationwide. Each team consisted of a Service Advisor, Parts Staff, and two Service Technicians, all of whom underwent rigorous testing and assessment related to their respective roles in the service shop. The aim was to evaluate their knowledge and skills and recognize the best talent within the Isuzu network.

During the event, IPC President Tetsuya Fujita delivered a welcome speech in which he expressed his appreciation for the excellent aftersales service provided by the dealer network. He credited their commitment to achieving Isuzu’s status as the number-one truck brand for 23 consecutive years. Fujita highlighted the Isuzu advantage, which lies in their top-notch aftersales service and support, as the reason people continue to trust the Isuzu brand. He also acknowledged the network’s efforts, which enabled IPC to receive the coveted Triple Star Award from Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan (IML), for four consecutive years.

The winners of this year’s ISSO were announced in various categories. Maria Noemi Cabaltera from Isuzu Makati claimed the top spot in the Service Advisor Category, followed by Marius Adrian Pablo from Isuzu Cabanatuan and Cryser Ryan Carmona from Isuzu Pasig. In the Parts Staff Category, Riza May Cabus from Isuzu Pagbilao emerged as the winner, with Felipines Bangcaya from Isuzu Bulacan and Hazel Ann Ramos from Isuzu Calapan securing second and third place, respectively. The Service Technician Category saw Deolito Galono & Raymundo Eduque III from Isuzu Bulacan as the champions, Christopher Jateco & Romeo Nayanga Jr. from Isuzu Pasig in second place, and Sani James Maghanoy & Alex Roble from Isuzu Cagayan De Oro in third place. After tallying the points from all the categories, Isuzu Bulacan was declared the Dealer Grand Champion.

The event was graced by the presence of Naohiko Yanagawa, IML Executive Officer and Vice President for Aftersales, who not only observed the intense competition but also expressed his sincere appreciation for the Filipino service personnel. Yanagawa recognized the talent and dedication of Filipinos, stating that it comes as no surprise that Isuzu Philippines consistently performs well in the Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition (I-1GP). He further highlighted that the ISSO serves as a platform for selecting the team that will represent IPC in the prestigious I-1GP competition in Japan later this year.

Since joining the competition in 2006, IPC has consistently ranked among the top performers in both the Commercial Vehicle (CV) and Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) categories, competing against other Isuzu-serving countries worldwide. This sustained excellence is a testament to the skill and expertise of Isuzu’s personnel and their unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional aftersales service to Isuzu customers in the Philippines.
