The next-generation MINI Cooper has been in the pipeline for quite some time now, with the current generation undergoing its final LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) in 2021. Finally, MINI unveils the next-generation Cooper through a series of official photos since the preview of a camouflaged prototype in 2021. Like the next-generation Countryman, the new Cooper will also get electric and internal-combustion powertrain options.
Details regarding official specifications are still being kept under wraps. Still, at least in exterior design, we now have an idea of what the final product will be like.
The overall body structure of the Cooper gets a redesign while taking a bow to its roots. The headlights are now much more cleanly integrated, and the grille now gets a trapezoidal shape, with the majority of the former vents now being blocked off in favor of smaller cooling vents. The sharp creases found on the hood help round out the front.

The most extensive redesign comes in the rear of the vehicle with triangular LED taillights that still have the hint of the iconic Union Jack flag. A new set of redesigned wheels also go cohesively with the trapezoidal method of styling that can be found in the front and rear of the next-generation Cooper.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, we can expect the new Cooper to still retain the same BMW-derived 1.5-liter 3-cylinder and 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine options found on the outgoing model. We also expect the spicier John Cooper Works (JCW) to also come a year or two later once the next-generation Cooper is released by 2025. In the electrification aspect, the next-generation electric Cooper will be built in partnership with Great Wall Motor (GWM), which potentially means lower prices for the EV variant should it release locally.
As of now, MINI is still being mum about further details regarding the next-generation Cooper, but at least in terms of design alone, the vehicle does seem to be ready for production in time for its 2025 release. All we can do now is wait.
