In 2019, the Honda Brio came into the Philippine market as Honda’s small, peppy city car. In those four years, virtually nothing has changed about the small city car, not with its looks or engine.
Now though, Honda has gotten around to giving the Brio some TLC for its 2023 model year. Over in Indonesia, PT Honda Prospect Motor Indonesia has launched the updated Brio, providing it with some exterior and tech updates to keep it in the ring with the likes of the Mitsubishi Mirage and its biggest enemy, the Toyota Wigo.

Up front, the 2023 Brio has undergone significant alterations. Starting with the headlights, we can see that not much has changed in that department but look below and you’ll spot that it boasts a much bigger grille with a choice of two unique patterns. The standard Brio features a hexagonal design, while the RS model has a sportier look. The revamped front end of the 2023 Brio also benefits from an updated bumper with sharper angles and corner air intakes, which add to its edginess. The RS version distinguishes itself with glossy black accents, while the standard editions stay true to their chrome and body-color adornments.

Aside from exterior updates at the front, the Brio’s new wheels are also worth mentioning. While the basic and mid-range models continue to use 14-inch alloys, they now feature a unique six-spoke, two-tone pattern. On the other hand, the RS version comes with multi-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels featuring a distinct pattern and a dark chrome finish. Additionally, all the variants have redesigned rear bumpers, with the RS model boasting smoked taillights that add to its sporty appearance.
Moving inside, Honda has provided some slight modifications to the interior of the Brio. The RS model now features a seven-inch touchscreen head unit that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additionally, the interior has undergone other changes, such as a revamped instrument cluster, a push-to-start button, and new seat patterns for the standard and RS versions of the Brio.
Under the hood is where the Brio’s refresh ends, the 2023 facelift for the Brio carries over the same 1.2-liter, inline-four cylinder single overhead cam i-VTEC engine that puts out 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, since the engine hasn’t been touched, the refreshed Brio can still be had with either a five-speed manual transmission or the Earth Dreams CVT.
