Toyota has recently started teasing the upcoming next-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, following the reveal of its upscale version, the Lexus GX. While not much information has been officially released, it has been confirmed that the Land Cruiser nameplate will make its return to the United States.
The all-new Land Cruiser Prado is expected to be a more mainstream variant of the Lexus GX, arriving after a fourteen-year gap since its last complete model change. From the teasers released so far, it appears that both vehicles will share the same exterior body panels, resulting in a boxy silhouette inspired by the legendary 70 Series Land Cruiser that enhances its off-road appearance as well as potential capabilities.
The Lexus GX currently offers a choice between a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and a 2.4-liter turbo hybrid. Similarly, the Land Cruiser Prado is anticipated to feature a turbo diesel powertrain as well. The most likely option could be the newly introduced mild-hybrid version of the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV engine found in the Hilux, seeing as both platforms have shared engines before.
Regarding the platform, both the Lexus GX and the Land Cruiser Prado will utilize the body-on-frame TNGA-F platform. Key features of this platform include an electric power steering system and E-KDSS (Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System). The Lexus GX also boasts full-time all-wheel drive and an optional rear-locking differential, which are likely to be standard features in the Land Cruiser Prado as well.

Toyota has not provided an exact launch date for the all-new Land Cruiser Prado. However, with the teasing campaign already underway, it is expected to be fully revealed within the next few months. While it could take some time until the next-generation Land Cruiser Prado reaches the Philippines, we feel that it could be a potential hot seller once it arrives.
