The Department of Tourism (DOT) and Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) have recently reestablished their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of a program called “Drive Pinas.” On July 10, 2023, the agreement was signed, coinciding with the unveiling of the refreshed version of the Almera compact sedan.

The inception of the Drive Pinas campaign stems from a strong and enduring partnership between Nissan and DOT, driven by a shared vision to boost local tourism and highlight the breathtaking tourist destinations across the nation. By utilizing Nissan vehicles for immersive journeys, Drive Pinas seeks to revolutionize travel, offering an exhilarating yet eco-friendly experience for both local residents and visitors.

On the other hand, Juan Manuel Hoyos, the President of NPI, shared his enthusiasm regarding the fresh collaboration with the DOT.

“While the Department of Tourism already has a strong vision to enhance the love for the Philippines among locals and tourists alike — something I personally share — Nissan is fully supportive of this vision. We are committed to crafting innovative vehicles and technologies that bring excitement to these journeys, all the while contributing positively to society and the environment.”

Over the course of the last eight years, Nissan Philippines Inc. and the Department of Tourism (DOT) have joined forces on numerous successful projects. These endeavors include the ‘Visit the Philippines, Drive to Discover with Nissan’ campaign and the more recent ‘Safe Trips’ campaign. The latter, even in the face of the pandemic, sought to promote local destinations and stimulate domestic travel. Now, the next chapter for the two organizations in their mission to promote Philippine tourism is Drive Pinas.
