MINI has just revealed the interior design of the next-generation MINI Cooper through a quick teaser video. The teaser serves to showcase the evolution of MINI’s interior design compared to the very first MINI Cooper. Interestingly, though the new cabin is obviously more advanced and futuristic, the design carries glimpses of the first-generation MINI Cooper as well as the generation it will replace.
To start knocking off the changes one by one, let’s start with the most obvious change in the cabin, the central screen. While MINIs were once renowned for their singular central dial, the car manufacturer has boldly departed from tradition for their latest model. Moving away from physical gauges, the designers have gone with a large, circular display with sleek, minimal bezels, seamlessly integrating all infotainment functions and essential driving data.

While dimensions for the screen have not yet been announced, at a glance, the screen looks to be about half the size of the steering wheel and maybe smaller. The image also shows that MINI has given the 2024 Cooper EV a heads-up display that projects images through a thin, transparent screen instead of projecting data on a small spot on the windshield.

Though it’s designed for the future, the upcoming MINI Cooper’s interior takes a few design cues from the past.

The dashboard of the new electric MINI Cooper also brings some added charm along with intriguing features. The door panels are sleek and simplistic, upholstered in what looks to be gray fabric complementing the car’s black steering wheel. Mini has also cleverly included small toggle switches beneath the central screen, which also include a gear selector switch among them.

Although the official launch of the new MINI Cooper E is unknown, MINI has provided details regarding its specifications. The Cooper E variant is set to come with a 40.7 kWh battery and an electric motor generating 181 hp. On the other hand, the sportier Cooper SE will be equipped with a larger 54.2 kWh battery and a more potent electric motor producing 215 hp. Anticipated ranges for both of these models are approximately 300 to 400 km respectively.
