Mitsubishi has unveiled its latest compact crossover, dubbing it the Xforce. While it is initially making its debut in Indonesia, it has also been confirmed for release in the Philippines. This fresh addition to Mitsubishi’s lineup seamlessly blends the characteristics of an authentic SUV design with a roomy and adaptable interior, as well as exceptional maneuverability tailor-made for negotiating the tight urban streets prevalent in this region.

Underpinning the Xforce’s aesthetics is the “Silky & Solid” design philosophy, an innovative approach that amalgamates sophistication with strength in its SUV form. The upper body is meticulously crafted to exude an illusion of lightness, while the lower part is endowed with a robust and commanding stance. The vehicle’s standout features include an impressive ground clearance, towering at 222 millimeters, which is accompanied by 18-inch alloy wheels and 225/50R18 tires that further amplify its agility on the road.

Mitsubishi Xforce interior

Stepping inside the Xforce, one encounters Mitsubishi’s Horizontal Axis concept. For the first time in a Mitsubishi model, the instrument panel is adorned with a mélange fabric, not only for its contemporary appeal but also for its durability against stains. The centerpiece of the interior is a sprawling 12.3-inch monolithic display, seamlessly running the brand’s Smartphone-link Display Audio system. Additionally, the driver benefits from a digital display that imparts a futuristic touch.

Powering the Xforce is a 1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, known as the 4A91, which has been previously employed in models like the Xpander and Xpander Cross. This engine equips the five-seater SUV with 104 hp and a torque of 141 Nm. This power is efficiently managed through a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The Xforce’s suspension system has been meticulously calibrated for the diverse road conditions prevalent in the ASEAN region, ensuring a comfortable ride even on uneven surfaces. The front end of the vehicle features optimized caster trail and a responsive steering ratio, while the rear boasts optimized bushings and an enhanced shock absorber diameter, all contributing to the vehicle’s stable and comfortable ride quality. The Xforce boasts generous ground clearance of 222 mm, coupled with impressive approach and departure angles of 21 and 30.5 degrees, respectively. Its tight turning radius of 5.2 meters further enhances its agility.

Mitsubishi Xforce

As a 2WD model, the Xforce is equipped with Mitsubishi Motors’ advanced four-wheel control technology, enhancing the SUV’s road-handling prowess. The vehicle incorporates four distinct drive modes—Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud—each integrating the Active Yaw Control (AYC) system to regulate driving force distribution across the front wheels, thereby enhancing control. Additionally, the traction control system manages tire skidding, while the engine and power steering controls further bolster the vehicle’s stability. Notably, the Wet mode, introduced by Mitsubishi for the first time, optimizes cornering and stability on wet surfaces, providing reassurance even when driving in rainy conditions.

As Mitsubishi’s latest compact crossover, the Xforce stands as a harmonious fusion of SUV aesthetics, practicality, and adaptability. Its innovative design philosophy, combined with its technologically advanced features and road-handling capabilities, positions it as an ideal choice for navigating the urban landscapes and varied road conditions in the ASEAN region, most especially here in the Philippines.
