If you’re a motorist who regularly travels on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) this is an important piece of news. The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has officially given the green light for adjustments to the toll rates on this expressway.
Starting November 3, 2023, there will be an increase in toll rates on SLEX, marking the first adjustment since 2011. The TRB gave the thumbs up after considering the Petitions for Approval of Periodic Toll Rate Adjustments for 2012 and 2014. Recently, both San Miguel Corporation (SMC) SLEX Inc. and the Manila Toll Expressways Systems have informed the TRB of their intention to implement this toll rate increase.

Starting Friday, November 3, commuters journeying from Alabang to Calamba, Laguna will experience an incremental toll charge of P10 for Class 1, P20 for Class 2, and P30 for Class 3 vehicles. Conversely, travelers going from Calamba to Sto. Tomas, Batangas will encounter supplementary fees of P4.00, P6.00, and P8.00 for Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 vehicles, respectively.

To safeguard the welfare of the expressway’s users, address the ongoing inflationary concerns, and minimize the effects of the toll rate changes, the TRB has instructed SMC SLEX Inc. to introduce the toll rate adjustments in two phases. The first tranche will be implemented on November 3, 2023, with the second tranche slated for the following year in 2024.
On the same day, the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), is also implementing an increase in toll prices. MCX will be charging an additional P1 for Class 1, P2 for Class 2, and P3 for Class 3 vehicles. The new toll fees for MCX will be P18, P37, and P55 for Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 vehicles, respectively.
If you’re a motorist planning to travel through SLEX or MCX on Friday later this week, remember that there will be additional charges on the toll fees before you head out.
