First making its appearance at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China back in November, the Zeekr 007 has now been launched in China. This sleek electric vehicle is set to take on the Tesla Model 3 in China and it has the equipment and looks for it. According to Zeekr, the company has received 51,569 orders for this EV and customers will start receiving their new vehicles on January 1, 2024. What a way to start the new year.

Starting with the exterior, the 007 veers away from the styling of other Zeekr models like the 001 and the X. This is most apparent when it comes to the front fascia which has a more conservative look, unlike the aggressive front faces of the X and 001. The Zeekr 007 is a mid-size sedan constructed on the PMA2+ platform, it is 4,865 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and stands 1,450 mm tall with a wheelbase measuring 2,928 mm. It showcases the innovative design language known as “Hidden Energy,” conceived by Stefan Sielaff, a former Bentley designer currently serving as the Vice President of Global Design at Geely.

One feature of note in the sedan’s design is its front fascia, featuring slender LED headlights and a customizable full-width display capable of showcasing written messages. While this display could lead to drivers hurling profanities at each other, the design feature is quite quirky and tastefully applied nonetheless.
There are two available powertrains for the 007 models, both based on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture. The base model is equipped with a single electric motor at the rear, producing 415 hp and achieving a zero to 100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds. For those desiring more power, the all-wheel-drive model offers a combined 637 hp, reducing the zero to 100 km/h sprint time to an impressive 2.84 seconds.

In terms of tech features, the 007 is also packed to the brim. The Zeekr 007 will come equipped with the Zeekr Pilot (NZP) for highway navigation, and Urban NZP is scheduled to commence public testing in June 2024. In addition, the 007 is equipped with various sensors, including lidar, 12 high-definition cameras, five Millimeter wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, all providing input to the NZP system. The processing power for these functions is handled by the Nvidia Orin X chip, boasting a computing power of up to 508 TOPS or Tera Operations per Second.

The Zeekr 007 starts at 229,900 Yuan or around P1,800,000 when converted to Philippine pesos. Zeekr does not have any presence outside of China yet but they have stated plans to enter Europe in 2024. Zeekr’s offerings like the 007 and the 001 FR co-developed with Kimi Raikkonen make us wish that they would expand to Southeast Asia sooner though.
