The automotive industry is experiencing rapid change right now, as seen by the developments being made in the realm of EVs and hybrids. Meanwhile, internal combustion engines are getting more powerful and more efficient with smaller displacements. Nevertheless, as the saying goes, “In with the new, out with the old.” These developments mean that mighty powerhouses like the V8 will soon be on their way out. For the HEMI-powered Jeep Wrangler, this may be the reality it is about to face.

According to a teaser put out by Jeep on their social media page, the automaker intends to launch a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition model sometime soon. It is unknown what changes Jeep is planning to put in the Final Edition but on the standard V8 Wrangler, the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 delivers an impressive 463 hp and 647 Nm of torque. This mill is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. This off-roader can embarrass most of the cars it meets on the road as it can accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in a mere 4.4 seconds.

As for what is contained in the image, the teaser shows a badge presenting the details about the HEMI V8, including its specifications, dimensions, and the location of its production and design. Jeep has not disclosed specific details of the forthcoming Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition. Nevertheless, we can expect this last hurrah of the Jeep Wrangler to come in limited numbers and with a hefty price tag.

Here in the Philippines, the only available engine for the Wrangler is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. This mill is capable of producing 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque. If you want a V6 engine though, the Jeep Gladiator is also available and it comes with Jeep’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. This engine is capable of generating 285 hp and 352 Nm of torque with power transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Though the V8 HEMI is being retired on Jeep’s rugged off-roaders, Jeep’s lineup here in the Philippines should stay relatively unchanged in the meantime.
