Toyota has launched the third facelift of the beloved eight-generation Hilux in Indonesia. This comes right after a surprise reveal of the updated version in Australia alongside the 48V mild-hybrid version. With the current generation of the Hilux now being nine years old, let’s take a look at what Toyota has done to keep the old soldier in fresh fighting form.

Toyota’s aesthetic makeover for the Hilux continues with a refreshed front bumper. Exclusive to the V and G variants for Indonesia are LED headlights reminiscent of those found in the PH-market Hilux Conquest and GR-S models. As for the rest of the pickup truck, the remaining bits of the design are carried over from before.

Inside, the Hilux has also been updated with the addition of dual-zone climate control, wireless charging pads, and USB-C ports. Design-wise, it’s still very much largely the same.
In terms of powertrain options, this is where the Australian and Indonesian versions of the Hilux diverge. In contrast to the Australian market Hilux, equipped with a 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbodiesel featuring a 48V mild-hybrid system, the Hilux for Indonesia is still powering through with pure diesel power. Their version of the Hilux is powered solely by the 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV engine, delivering 148 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Now that the updated Hilux has entered the ASEAN market, there’s a good chance that it will also make an entry into the Philippine market. However, don’t expect it to come with a mild-hybrid system just yet going by what we know is currently offered in Indonesia.
Check out the Toyota Hilux range on AutoDeal.com.ph and look for the right variant of the legendary Hilux for you. The Philippine-market Hilux comes with both the 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV engines so you can choose between fuel-efficiency or more power.
