In a recent social media post, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12 announced that there is another round of recalls from Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP).  According to the announcement, Toyota has initiated a special service campaign for the front shock absorber assembly of the Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross models. TMP stated that improper tightening of the front shock absorber nuts may result in potential damage to the vehicle and pose a stability risk.

What cars, or more specifically, how many cars are affected by this recall? Per the DTI’s post, the recall encompasses a combined total of 36,930 units of the Avanza and Veloz, manufactured between January 7, 2022, and September 4, 2023. Additionally, 3,378 units of the Yaris Cross produced between May 29, 2023, and September 4, 2023, will require inspection and repair of their front shock absorber nuts.

Toyota Avanza

Aside from this recall, earlier in the year, the Avanza and Veloz underwent another recall due to issues related to the strength of their side impact beams. This came about after the discovery that certain vehicles had inadequately welded side impact beams. Plus, even earlier than that, in January, the Avanaza, Veloz, and Raize were recalled for a compromised brake cylinder slide-pin boot.

If you’re not sure if your Toyota is part of the service campaign, we highly recommend you check out TMP’s service campaign site or simply view the QR code attached to the image DTI has sent out.
