MG has recently launched the new MG3 Hybrid, a small hatchback with hybrid technology, and it’s now being sold globally. Originally available only in the UK, its release in Australia has come with a noticeable price change – a price hike, to be exact. The price increase has led to speculations on whether the Philippines will see a similar price hike if the car is introduced here.

The MG3 Hybrid stands out in the B-segment with its Hybrid+ powertrain, featuring a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor. The car is made for efficiency and performance, making it the fastest accelerating hybrid in its class with an 8.0-second 0-100km/h sprint. The hybrid system also has a battery that allows an extensive electric-only driving range and also uses less fuel. On top of these, the Hybrid+ system in the MG3 is MG’s first regular hybrid car that doesn’t need to be plugged in.

If you think that’s all it could brag about, you’re obviously wrong! While the car boasts about its good performance, it also offers a spacious interior despite its compact size. The MG3 Hybrid comes with high-end interior features and advanced safety technologies, including the MG Pilot system. An added benefit is MG’s long seven-year/150,000 km warranty – a pretty good deal, honestly.
The car’s Hybrid+ system includes a 1.5-liter petrol engine, a 100kW electric motor, and a separate generator motor, allowing for a variety of hybrid driving modes that could fit different driving conditions.
Aiden He from MG says the new MG3 Hybrid could lead its class, offering a combination of good performance and efficiency. The car is more refined yet still fun to drive, and it also comes with high-quality features inside and safety systems like MG Pilot.
“With all the attributes to become a leader in its class, the all-new MG3 will offer customers a combination of efficiency and performance with MG’s exciting Hybrid+ powertrain. More refined, yet also bringing MG’s fun-to-drive philosophy to the market, the MG3 is excellently equipped, both with premium interior features and MG Pilot safety systems.”

Right now, the all-new MG3 is known as the fastest in its group, but will it be just as fast in winning over buyers or not do well? After its release in Australia with a higher price, there’s a chance it might cost more if it comes to the Philippines. In the meantime, have a look at MG’s current car selection in the Philippines and get a price for the one you like.
