Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) has started the delivery of its first Freightliner eM2 battery-electric trucks. These medium-duty electric vehicles, which rolled off the production line at the end of 2023, are now being distributed to customers across the United States. The eM2s are assembled and manufactured in DTNA’s manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon.

PITT OHIO, a company known for providing transportation, warehouse, and logistics services, is the first to add these eM2s to its lineup. They have integrated two Class 7 eM2 trucks alongside their existing conventional Freightliner M2s. Operating from the Cleveland, Ohio terminal, these electric trucks with 26-foot-long boxes will hopefully support PITT OHIO’s Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipping business.

A dealership certified by DTNA Elite Support, Fyda Freightliner has contributed a lot to the sales and delivery process of the eM2. Fyda has been supporting PITT OHIO for 20 years and operates seven locations in the Midwest.

DTNA aims to offer only CO2-neutral vehicles in most markets by 2039, but this depends on having the right infrastructure and making sure that the costs work out for their customers. The company’s current lineup of electric vehicles includes the Jouley, an all-electric bus available from 2020; the FCCC MT50e walk-in van chassis, available from 2021; and the Class 8 Freightliner eCascadia, available from 2022.

The eM2, introduced in 2023, is made for pickup and delivery services, with a range of 290 kilometers for Class 6 vehicles and approximately 402 kilometers for Class 7 vehicles. DTNA also introduced vocational innovation vehicles last year, which are now being used by various customers.

Sustainable practices in medium-duty truck fields are not something we see every day, so the release of the eM2 electric trucks may initiate something new toward sustainability. If you want to know more about these vehicles, visit TruckDeal to see the current offerings in the local market.
