On April 14, 2024, at the Batangas Racing Circuit, the Mazda MX-5, represented by Team MSCC Mazda Miata, showed a really outstanding performance by winning consecutive races at the Petron Makabayan Endurance Cup.
The event, which took place at the Batangas Racing Circuit in the Philippines, saw the #55 Mazda Miata not only lead but set a new lap record by completing 114 laps in four hours – too fast, too furious, indeed!
The team, composed of veteran racers Angie King, Tyson Sy, and Juha Turalba, really performed well in driving the Mazda MX-5. Despite facing competitors with more powerful, purpose-built race cars, the team’s strategy was to make use of the MX-5’s balanced performance and exceptional handling.

On April 14, 2024, at the Batangas Racing Circuit, the Mazda MX-5, represented by Team MSCC Mazda Miata, showed a really outstanding performance by winning consecutive races at the Petron Makabayan Endurance Cup.

Thanks to their skillful driving and the car’s good performance, the team finished four laps ahead in the two-hour race and six laps in the four-hour race.

Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines, expressed pride in the team’s achievement, stating where he mentioned the MX-5’s advantages in longer races, such as reliability and fuel efficiency, which also played an important part in the shorter races.
The Team MSCC Mazda Miata’s car is nearly identical to the vehicles used in the MSCC Miata Spec Series, with only minor adjustments made to the suspension and chassis to fit the endurance racing format.
During the race, the car retained its stock powertrain, featuring a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine and a 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive manual transmission.
The car also continued to sport its “Imagine” livery, a vibrant design meant to convey power and energy, adding to its visual impact on the track. The #55 on the car pays tribute to the Mazda 787B, winner of the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In addition to its recent victories, the Mazda MX-5 has a rich history of success in endurance racing, with wins in various major races over the years, which actually proves its reputation as a competitive sports car in the endurance racing community.
