The curtain has risen on Omoda’s latest offering, the Omoda 7, unveiled in the heart of Wuhu, China, the carmaker’s hometown. Serving as the larger counterpart to the widely known Omoda 5, it emerges as a sleek and sporty coupe SUV with broad appeal. Anchored by three core design principles—dynamic, avant-garde, and futuristic—it embodies a fusion of style and innovation according to Omoda.

Starting with the exterior, the Omoda 7 commands attention with its striking aesthetic. A sleek shark nose is adorned with a borderless parametric grille, while sharp angles dominate its overall silhouette. A closer inspection reveals intricate hexagonal patterns adorning the front corners, capable of illuminating as part of its mesmerizing “digital pixel design detail.”

Underneath, the Omoda 7 rides on large 20-inch dual-tone alloys. Its wheel arch liners boast a unique pattern, adding a bit of individuality to the crossover. Interestingly, the Omoda 7 features flap-type door handles, a style we haven’t seen much beyond the 80’s.

Omoda 7 Rear

In terms of dimensions, the Omoda 7 stands at 4,621 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,673 mm in height, boasting a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. These figures mark a significant increase over the Omoda 5, which measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, 1,588 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,630 mm.

Next up is the Omoda 7’s power source. Under the hood lies a 1.5TGDi four-cylinder gasoline engine, seamlessly integrated with a plug-in hybrid system. According to Omoda, the powertrain’s superior thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent sets a new standard in its class. In hybrid mode, it achieves remarkable fuel efficiency, consuming just 4.89 l/100 km, translating to a combined range of 1,200 km.

Omoda adds that a pure ICE version is coming shortly that might share the same powertrain as the Jaecoo J7. As the Omoda 7 has made its public debut, the official launch will be held early next year.
