So, why are we talking about a Jeep that isn’t available for most of the world? That’s because, since the Avenger’s debut in 2022, it was only available in front-wheel drive, until now. Meet the Jeep Avenger 4xe, a more rugged, mild-hybrid variant of the Avenger now fitted with the most important feature for off-roading, a four-wheel drive system.
At the core of the Avenger 4xe is a compact 1.2-liter gasoline engine equipped with mild-hybrid technology. This three-cylinder turbo engine generates 136 hp and delivers power through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Accompanying the internal combustion engine are two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, each producing 28 hp.

So, why are we talking about a Jeep that isn’t available for most of the world? That’s because, since the Avenger’s debut in 2022, it was only available in front-wheel drive, until now. Meet the Jeep Avenger 4xe, a more rugged, mild-hybrid variant of the Avenger now fitted with the most important feature for off-roading, a four-wheel drive system.

Accompanying the internal combustion engine are two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, each producing 28 hp.
According to Jeep, this hybrid setup allows the Avenger 4xe to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 194 km/h. Up to speeds of 30 km/h, the Avenger 4xe operates in 4×4 mode with a 50:50 power distribution between the two axles. Beyond 30 to 90 km/h, it defaults to front-wheel drive, with the rear motor ready to engage if needed. Beyond 90 km/h, the rear motor disengages to enhance fuel efficiency.
The 4xe offers additional benefits, including a multi-link rear suspension and an increased ride height, providing an extra 10 mm of ground clearance, now totaling 209 mm. This model boasts improved off-road capabilities with a 22-degree approach angle, a 35-degree departure angle, and a 21-degree breakover angle, all superior to those of the standard front-wheel-drive Avenger.
According to Jeep, this more capable variant can ford water up to approximately 40 cm deep. It also features multiple driving modes: Snow, Sand & Mud, Sport, and Auto.
In the looks department, the Avenger 4xe’s exterior is toughened with rugged bumpers featuring a scratch-resistant finish, standard roof rails, and a rear tow hitch. Inside, the seats are upholstered in a waterproof material claimed to be twice as durable as before, with a special coating that makes it easier to clean stains and mud.
Should the Avenger and Avenger 4xe remain in Europe or should it make its way to other markets like ours? We think the Avenger nameplate deserves a place in Jeep’s lineup for the Philippines, simply because we can’t get enough of small yet capable four-wheel drive SUVs in the country.
