Dongfeng has officially launched its first plug-in hybrid SUV, the Aeolus L7, with a starting price that grabs attention at $17,800 (approximately Php 1,033,485.80).

Under the hood, the Aeolus L7 is equipped with Dongfeng’s latest Mach plug-in hybrid system, which includes a 113 kW 1.5T engine and a 100 kW electric motor at the front. This setup provides a combined power of 265 kW (about 355 hp) and 615 Nm of torque, with the vehicle capable of reaching a top speed of 170 km/h. Its fuel efficiency is somewhat low, with a WLTC minimum fuel consumption of just 0.56L/100 km.
Technology in the Aeolus L7 adds to the plus points, with the vehicle operating system powered by WindLink OS 3.0 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. It offers keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, and 128-color ambient lighting. For audio, it includes a Wind-HiFi 13-speaker system, and for convenience, there’s 50W wireless fast charging and advanced voice control capabilities.
Two battery options are available for the Aeolus L7: a 17 kWh and a 30.32 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering pure electric ranges of 110 km and 205 km, respectively, and total ranges of 1,400 km and 1,500 km. The vehicle supports fast charging, allowing the battery to be recharged from 30% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
Should the Dongfeng Aeolus L7 hit the Philippine market, it might just change the game among SUVs here. It doesn’t lead in fuel economy, but it stands out with its other features.
