The new model is Kia’s smallest all-electric vehicle yet, but it comes loaded with features and capabilities typically found in larger models. Despite its compact size of 4300mm by 1850mm by 1560mm, the EV3 is built to deliver an electric driving experience.

The EV3 is built on Kia’s adaptable E-GMP platform and includes a 400V electrical architecture. It is equipped with an 81.4 kWh battery from LG Energy Solutions, which allows it to travel up to 600 km on a single charge. The EV3 also supports fast charging, which can recharge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 31 minutes. There is another version available with a smaller 58.3 kWh battery, although the range for this variant has not been specified.

Performance-wise, the EV3 features a single electric motor that produces 201 hp and 283 Nm of torque, providing power to the front wheels. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 170 km/h. Additionally, the EV3 includes a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which allows it to power external devices, useful for outdoor activities or work sites.

Inside the EV3, there is a 12-inch heads-up display and a 30-inch widescreen monitor that combines a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and another 12.3-inch display for the instrument panel. The car includes an AI-powered intelligent system named Kia Assistant, which can be voice-activated to help with navigation and finding local amenities like charging stations and restaurants. The center console offers practical storage solutions and includes a sliding table for added convenience.

In terms of design, the EV3 follows the aesthetic of the larger EV9. It has vertical LED headlights and a bold front design, giving it a modern and stylish look. The rear is equipped with geometric LED taillights and features distinctive black trim. The EV3 offers plenty of space for cargo, with a capacity of 460 liters in the back and an additional 25 liters in the front storage area (frunk). An optional Harman Kardon sound system is available for those who appreciate high-quality audio.

Kia plans to introduce the EV3 to the Korean market in July 2024, with a goal to bring it to additional Asian markets early the following year. As the EV5 is on its way to the Philippines, there’s a good chance the EV3 will make it here by 2025.
