The Hyundai Motorsport team leaves the “Green Hell” in high spirits despite a severely cut race at the 2024 Nürburgring 24 Hours. This is because its entrant, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Mason Filippi, Harry Gottsacker, Bryson Morris, and Mark Wilkins for Team Americas, has clinched the TCR class victory. This win marks Hyundai’s fourth consecutive triumph in the race.
Despite the severely cut race, the Elantra N TCR’s outing at the “Green Hell” shows how committed Hyundai is to motorsport. Since its inception in 2014, Hyundai’s growth has been staggering, allowing the company to compete directly with its European rivals on their home turf.

Going back to the race, the quartet completed 44 laps of the 25 km track, crossing the finish line at the end of a race significantly affected by heavy fog. The fog restricted Sunday running to just a few laps under Safety Car conditions after a red flag that lasted over 14 hours. They led a historic 1-2-3 finish in the TCR class in the first year Hyundai Motorsport entered three cars in the race. Team Europe’s defending class winners, Mikel Azcona, Marc Basseng, and Manuel Lauck, finished second. Team China’s Hongwei Cao, Zhang Zhendong, Rainey He, and Andy Yan secured third place with the #832 Elantra N TCR.

Team China’s Hongwei Cao, Zhang Zhendong, Rainey He, and Andy Yan secured third place with the #832 Elantra N TCR.

As for the machine that gave Hyundai its 1-2-3 finish, here are the specs. Powering the Elantra TCR is a race-tuned and turbocharged 2.0-liter engine mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The engine puts out 350 hp and 450 Nm of torque delivered to the front wheels. Other upgrades include a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension, multiple aerodynamic upgrades, beefy six-piston caliper front brakes with 380 mm discs, and a 100-liter endurance racing fuel tank.
Of course, these upgrades won’t make a car magically win unless the team has competent drivers behind the wheel. For team Hyundai Motorsport, the car and the drivers blended well together, bringing them their fourth win at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Oh, and by the way, the road-going version of the Elantra N TCR is available for sale here in the Philippines. You can check it out on the Hyundai Car Guide on AutoDeal.com.ph. Need to satisfy your need for speed? Maybe Hyundai has the cure for you.
