We mentioned earlier that the all-new HS is bigger than before but by how much? In terms of dimensions, the 2025 HS now measures 4,635 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. This represents an increase of 26 mm in length, 14 mm in width, and an additional 30 mm in wheelbase, providing slightly more interior space.

At the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, MG took the covers off the second-generation MG HS crossover. Bigger and sleeker than before, the all-new HS is miles away from the generation it’s replacing. Even more impressive, MG will produce the new HS with a new turbocharged powertrain and a plug-in-hybrid powertrain (PHEV).

We mentioned earlier that the all-new HS is bigger than before but by how much? In terms of dimensions, the 2025 HS now measures 4,635 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. This represents an increase of 26 mm in length, 14 mm in width, and an additional 30 mm in wheelbase, providing slightly more interior space.
Regarding its design, while the HS shares much with the Roewe RX5 it is based on, the MG boasts a sleeker and sharper front end. This includes upswept headlights, a prominent grille, and of course, the distinct MG badge on the bumper. The wheels, however, are quite similar to their Chinese counterpart.
Moving inside, the all-new HS welcomes occupants with a pair of 12.3-inch displays. The central screen functions as the touchscreen infotainment system, supporting Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility. The other display serves as the instrument cluster and offers three distinct modes: Map, Digital, and ADAS.
As for safety features, the HS comes standard with six airbags, hill start assist, and stability control. In addition, the HS features MG Pilot, MG’s advanced driver assist system. This includes autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, among other features. The standout elements of MG Pilot are the traffic jam assist and intelligent speed limit assist, which are integrated into the adaptive cruise control.
Last but not least, we move to the HS’s powertrain options. The first is a new-generation 1.5-liter turbo engine, producing 168 hp and 275 Nm of torque. Surprisingly, MG has included a six-speed manual option for this engine, alongside a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Pretty sweet for people who want to keep the drive engaging even in a family crossover.
The second powertrain option is a plug-in hybrid system, combining a 1.5-liter engine that generates 140hp with a 154kW electric motor. While combined output figures weren’t provided, MG claims this setup allows the crossover SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Its 24.7kWh battery and 67kW generator are said to offer an electric-only driving range of up to 120 kilometers.
The all-new HS is only available in Europe for now, but, we hope the second-generation HS will also make its way here in the Philippines, preferably sooner rather than later.
