First introduced back in April 2024, the EZ-6 is a fully-electric mid-size sedan produced by Mazda through its joint venture with Changan Mazda. When it was first revealed, the EZ-6 was initially intended to be for the Chinese market only, now, Mazda has confirmed that it is making its way to the global market.

While technical specifications were not disclosed at the event, the EZ-6 is said to share a platform with the Deepal SL03 which may mean it has a 163 kW electric motor paired with a CATL-supplied LFP battery, offering an estimated range of around 700 km under the Chinese CTLC standard.
What is confirmed is that it will be available in both PHEV and BEV versions, though specific details have yet to be revealed. This PHEV model is expected to exceed 1,000 km on a single tank of fuel. Additionally, Mazda may offer a range-extended EV version.

Unlike most Mazda models, which are produced at the Hiroshima plant in Japan, the EZ-6 is manufactured at the Changan Mazda factory in China. As part of this development, Mazda and Changan Mazda have signed an Agreement on Electric Vehicle Export Cooperation, designating Changan Mazda as the exclusive Chinese base for new energy vehicle R&D and production for the global market.
The powertrain and battery will not be the only tech from Changan that will be fitted to the EZ-6. According to Mazda, the EZ-6 will feature Level 2.5 autonomous driving assistance, which includes capabilities such as autonomous parking, remote parking, remote intelligent parking, and trace-back parking.
Now, before anyone screams sacrilege and worries that the EZ-6 will lose Mazda’s trademark handling characteristics, it seems the Japanese automaker has covered that front. Mazda guarantees that the EZ-6 will maintain the brand’s signature driving dynamics, with experts from their European R&D Center having traveled to Chongqing specifically to fine-tune its handling.
The EZ-6 will officially go on sale in China before the end of the year, its next stop soon after will be the European market. As for the rest of the world, we’ll have to wait for further announcements from Mazda.
If you still prefer the power of internal combustion engines, the Mazda 6 Sports Wagon is available here in the Philippines. Check it out along with the rest of Mazda’s local lineup in full detail on AutoDeal.com.ph.
