Last weekend, at the BYD Tech Tour held in Ayala TriNoma Mall in Quezon City, the BYD Seagull made its first official appearance in the country. This confirms that the Seagull will be the brand’s next model in the country following the launch of the Sealion 6 DM-i.
Unlike the Sealion 6 DM-i or the Atto 3 which came before it, the Seagull will be much smaller, serving as the brand’s first five-door hatchback EV. Specifically, the Seagull measures 3,780mm long, 1,715 mm wide, and 1,540 mm tall.

“We at BYD Cars Philippines are excited to give the public a sneak peek of what we believe will redefine what affordable, fun, and practical electric mobility is in the country. For those in the market for their first electric vehicle, the BYD Seagull is the ideal entry into the electric mobility lifestyle.”

Managing Director, BYD Philippines
In terms of looks, the Seagull goes against the grain of the usual small EVs, sporting angular looks and sharper edges. It’s a bit more aggressive than its bigger crossover siblings, but the angular lights and features add charm to the Seagull’s size.
Distributor ACMobility has yet to release specific details for the local market. However, in China, the Seagull is powered by a single electric motor producing 74 hp and 135 Nm of torque. The driving range varies depending on the battery configuration: models with a 30.08 kWh battery can travel up to 305 km on a single charge, while those equipped with a 38.88 kWh battery can reach up to 405 km. As for what kind of battery size the Philippine market will get, we will have to wait until the official launch.

The next vehicle in the BYD lineup may also be the brand’s most affordable EV yet.
