As we reported a few days ago, Hyundai was set to introduce a ton of new features and upgrades to its IONIQ 5 EV for the 2025 model year. These upgrades go far beyond an exterior refresh as Hyundai says the IONIQ 5’s batteries will be revised to provide additional driving range.
Along with the larger battery, the upcoming iteration of the IONIQ 5 will sport redesigned bumpers, an adjusted spoiler, and updated, more aerodynamic wheels designed for improved airflow. Interior upgrades include a redesigned climate control layout, USB-C ports, and physical seat heater controls.

If you think the upgrades are the last bit of good news, the IONIQ 5 for the 2025 model year will also come with a new off-road-ready variant called the XRT. Compared to the standard run-of-the-mill IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 5 XRT has a more rugged appearance, featuring a distinct front fascia, black accents, red tow hooks, and a digital camo wrap on the bumpers and fender flares. It’s lifted an additional 0.9 inches for extra ground clearance and comes with matte-black 18-inch wheels fitted with all-terrain tires.

Inside, the XRT features exclusive H-Tex upholstery with “XRT” embroidered on the headrests, along with a black headliner and all-weather floor mats. Because it’s meant for the wilderness, it’s available only in the Long Range, dual-motor setup with an 84 kWh battery, offering up to 450 km of range. For charging, the IONIQ 5 XRT includes a NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, allowing access to Tesla’s Supercharger network. As this feature may only be useful in areas where Tesla operates, other markets overseas will likely retain the standard Type 2 EV charger.
Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. has not provided any news yet of the revised IONIQ 5 making its way into the country. However, as the IONIQ 5 made its way to North America after its debut in South Korea, likely, it will be making its way to other markets shortly after as well. Hopefully, when it reaches the Philippines, the XRT variant will also be available. Fingers crossed.
