Over in Australia, Nissan offers an all-terrain upgrade for the Navara and Patrol called the ‘Warrior’ trim, upgrading the two vehicles into one of the toughest machines you’ll see on the streets. Now, it appears this rugged treatment could extend to the Z sports car, as the automaker recently filed a trademark with IP Australia for the name “Z Warrior.”
A trademark filing doesn’t necessarily mean it’s headed to production immediately. Automakers often file trademark applications for potential future use, so this doesn’t confirm that Nissan will produce a Z Warrior. It simply suggests that there is a possibility of Nissan building it in the future.

With that said, last week, the Japanese automaker filed applications to protect the names Z Warrior, X-Trail Warrior, Pathfinder Warrior, and Qashqai Warrior, adding to the existing Navara Warrior and Patrol Warrior badges already available in Australia.
So what can we expect from a car that has been given the ‘Warrior’ name? To give you an idea, let’s take a look at the upgrades on the Nissan Patrol Warrior. The off-road-ready Patrol receives a complete suspension overhaul. This includes a wider track compared to the standard model and a significant 50 mm boost in ground clearance. The increase comes from a 29 mm suspension lift, combined with 18-inch wheels fitted with Yokohama G015 295/70 All-Terrain tires, which add an additional 21 mm. As a result, the ground clearance jumps from an already substantial 273 mm to an impressive 323 mm.
New Nissan trademark filing hints at an off-road version of the Z
Nothing’s confirmed yet, but, the Nissan Z might join the brand’s ‘Warrior’ line in Australia.

As for the Z Warrior, we’ve already seen hints of what it could look like with the debut of the Safari Rally Z Tribute at the 2023 SEMA Show. This concept, designed by Tommy Pike Customs, sported a two-inch lift and 17-inch Nismo Safari prototype wheels with Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 tires. Lighting enhancements on the hood, bumper, and A-pillars reinforced the rally theme.
The Safari Rally Z Tribute is equipped with an AMS-tuned VR30DDTT engine producing over 400 horsepower, paired with a NISMO Track cat-back exhaust system. It also features a cold air intake, carbon fiber engine cover, coolant expansion tank, heat exchanger, and a street twin-disc clutch and flywheel for additional powertrain enhancements.
Hopefully, if the Z Warrior does enter production, we’ll get to see a hardcore off-roader just like the Safari Rally Z Tribute. Of course, we also hope it enters our shores as well.
