BYD has finally introduced its new electric light commercial vehicle, the E-Vali, at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany. The van is specifically made for the European market to optimize last-mile and package delivery services. Alongside the E-Vali, BYD also presented its electric truck family and the EYT 2.0 electric yard tractor, growing its range of electric vehicle lineup.

The E-Vali is available in two sizes to accommodate different types of delivery needs. The smaller version features a 3.9-meter wheelbase with 13.9 cubic meters of cargo space and can carry up to 3.5 metric tons. The larger model has a 4.55-meter wheelbase, provides 17.9 cubic meters of cargo space, and supports up to 4.25 metric tons. Both models have wide rear doors and a tall roof, making it easier for drivers to load and unload while standing inside.
In terms of power, the E-Vali comes with two motor options. The base model has a 150 kW motor that drives the rear wheels, while a more powerful all-wheel-drive model adds a 100 kW front motor. Both versions use BYD’s 80.6 kWh LFP blade battery, capable of traveling 220 to 250 kilometers on a single charge. The fast-charging capability of the E-Vali allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making sure minimal downtime for delivery services.

Safety and driver convenience are improved with a complete package of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, and hill start assist. The cabin is modern and driver-focused, with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, and voice control.
Though the E-Vali is specifically made for Europe, it would be interesting to see how it would perform in the Philippines, given the rising interest in eco-friendly vehicles.
