The 6th Hino Smart Driver Contest was held from September 27-29, 2024, at the Makuhari Messe, with important guests such as Mr. Titipat Thaijongrak from the Department of Land Transport, Dr. Thongyoo Khongkhan from the Land Transport Federation of Thailand, and Ms. Yumiko Kawamura, President of Hino Motors Sales (Thailand), present at the opening ceremony. Ms. Kawamura mentioned that the contest serves to promote Thailand’s transport standards and provide opportunities for both male and female drivers to show and improve their skills.

The competition featured two main truck categories: the 4-wheel-loading truck and the 10-wheel semi-trailer loading truck. Drivers had to complete a series of challenging stations that mimic real-life driving scenarios, developed in collaboration with the Department of Land Transport to make sure that drivers could apply skills needed in daily driving. The competition assessed drivers on their driving techniques, fuel-saving skills, knowledge of vehicle maintenance, and compliance with traffic rules. Hino believes these exercises help participants build a stronger awareness of road safety and social responsibility, benefiting all road users.
