H1709010 Bagong Driver, Isa Palang part2

What’s better than an MX-5? A rare, limited-edition MX-5! The carmaker is throwing a party for the MX-5’s 35th birthday, and the guest of honor is this exclusive special edition. At the Sports Cars for a Cause (SCFC) event in Bonifacio Global City on February 23, 2025, Mazda Philippines introduced the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition to the country.

The event gathered over 200 sports cars, making it one of the biggest sports car meetups in the country. The MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition was the highlight of the event, marking its first public appearance in Asia outside Japan. This special edition was first revealed at the Mazda Fan Festa in Fuji Speedway, Japan, to celebrate 35 years of the MX-5, which was originally launched at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show. Only 15 units will be sold in the Philippines, with a price of P2.4M.

The MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition keeps the familiar roadster shape but comes with exclusive design hints. It is painted in Artisan Red Premium Metallic, Mazda’s fourth Takuminuri special color, which creates a deep red shade that changes slightly under different lighting. The tan soft top, bright silver 17-inch alloy wheels, and a serialized badge on the driver’s rear fender make it stand out from other MX-5 models.

Inside, the upper door panels and AC vents match the Artisan Red exterior, letting the color’s effect be seen from the cabin. The seats are covered in heated tan Nappa leather, featuring a “35th Anniversary” logo, with tan carpeting and floor mats completing the look. Like other MX-5 Soft Top models, the 35th Anniversary Edition comes with a modern set of features. It includes an 8.8-inch infotainment system with Mazda Connect, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard features include dual USB Type-C ports, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and a 9-speaker Bose sound system.

Under the hood, the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition runs on a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine, delivering 181 hp at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
