Updates for Chinese cars just keep coming, with GWM being the latest manufacturer to revise one of its vehicles, the GWM Tank 300. GWM hasn’t fiddled with the Tank 300’s looks or exterior much aside from a slightly tweaked front bumper, but it has introduced a significant amount of new technology to its interior.

The highlight of the update is a larger 14.6-inch floating-style infotainment touchscreen, powered by GWM’s latest ‘Coffee OS 3.0’ and a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. This new display replaces the previous 12.3-inch unit that was integrated into the dashboard.
GWM has also introduced a new D-shaped steering wheel in the Tank 300, along with a redesigned center console featuring dual 50-watt wireless phone chargers, updated physical controls, a refreshed central air vent design, and a refined dashboard finish with Tank 300 branding.
The aviation-inspired gear shifter has been replaced with a column-mounted selector, while the audio system has been upgraded to a 12-speaker setup with active noise cancellation, up from the previous nine-speaker system. Nappa leather upholstery is now available, including a new white color option.
GWM updates the Tank 300 for 2025
No major changes for the exterior, though the interior gets an increase in tech.

Nappa leather upholstery is now available, including a new white color option.

In terms of powertrain, the Tank 300 is offered with either pure internal combustion or a hybrid powertrain. The first option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that puts out 217 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the second option is GWM’s ‘Hi4-T’ plug-in hybrid system. This setup combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 120kW electric motor, delivering a total output of 402 and 750 Nm of torque.
Additionally, a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel variant has been introduced to the Chinese lineup, producing 181 hp and an impressive 480 Nm of torque. According to CarNewsChina, both petrol and diesel versions in China now come with a built-in winch. Additionally, a new Desert Sand taupe color has been added to the lineup, joining the existing options of white, grey, black, orange, and red.
For now, the updated GWM Tank 300 remains exclusive to the Chinese market. However, with time, the refreshed model—along with the 2.4-litre diesel engine—may eventually make its way to our market.
