GWM might still be a relatively new name to many Filipino car buyers, but the brand is quickly gaining traction—and for good reason. With a growing lineup of stylish, tech-packed, and competitively priced vehicles, it’s clear that GWM isn’t just here to join the game—it’s here to shake things up.
One of its most talked-about models right now is the newly refreshed 2025 GWM Cannon, officially launched at this year’s Manila International Auto Show. Alongside the debut, GWM also previewed the upcoming Haval H9, but it was the Cannon that stole the spotlight with a striking redesign and a long list of upgrades.
This latest version ditches the shiny chrome in favor of a more aggressive blacked-out look. The front grille, mirrors, bumpers, and wheel arches all get the dark treatment, while new LED headlights, a sculpted fascia, and a bold tailgate design give the Cannon serious road presence. A sports bar in the bed and black door handles round out the tougher new aesthetic.

Inside, the changes are just as impressive. GWM has overhauled the interior with a more upscale, tech-forward layout. You get dual digital displays, a revamped center console inspired by the Tank 300, and premium touches like ventilated leather seats, a wireless charging pad, and dual-zone climate control with rear vents. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with USB-A and USB-C ports to cover all your device needs.
Under the hood, the 2025 Cannon now runs a stronger 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine that puts out 175.5 hp and 480 Nm of torque—a noticeable bump from the previous model’s 2.0-liter mill. It’s mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and features a torque-on-demand four-wheel-drive system. Despite the extra power, GWM says the truck is actually more fuel-efficient, with a 10% improvement in economy.

On the safety front, the Cannon is loaded with modern driver assists including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and a total of six airbags.
Pricing remains attractive, starting at P1,348,000 for the Lux 4×4 AT and P1,498,000 for the top-spec SLux 4×4 AT. It’s a solid value considering the level of equipment and performance on offer.
