Just a few days into the new year, Hyundai is already making waves in India with the introduction of the Creta Electric. This zero-emissions version adds an eco-friendly option to one of Hyundai’s most popular SUV lineups.

The electric version has a revamped front with a pixel-patterned blocked grille and active aero flaps for better efficiency. The rear gets a refreshed bumper, subtle cladding, and a pixel accent above the skid plate. The profile stays similar to the gas-powered Creta, but the EV rides on newly developed 17-inch wheels for better aerodynamics and is available in an attractive Ocean Blue metallic color.
Powering the Creta Electric are two battery options: a 42 kWh pack with a 390-kilometer (242 miles) range and a 51.4 kWh pack offering up to 473 kilometers (294 miles) on a single charge. The EV uses a single electric motor, likely powering the front wheels, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, faster than the Creta N Line. Charging is quick and convenient, with a 10-80% charge completed in 58 minutes on a DC fast charger, while a full charge using an 11 kW AC wallbox takes about four hours.

Inside, the Creta Electric comes with dual 10.25-inch displays for the driver and infotainment system. A new steering wheel, gear selector, and a knob for Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes add to its updated interior. Hyundai has also included a small frunk for storage and a V2L feature that allows powering devices directly from the car.
Scheduled to debut at the Bharat Mobility Show in India, the Creta Electric seems like a good addition to the Philippine market as well. Hyundai hasn’t confirmed plans for a release in other markets yet, but with the rising interest in EVs locally, it could be something to look forward to.
