As reported by TopGear Philippines, this could mean that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) is preparing to launch an updated version of the pickup soon. In Thailand, the latest 2025 Triton was given some small changes. The chrome trim was removed on non-Athlete variants, giving the truck a sportier look. Mitsubishi also added a Nanoe X air cleaner and Heat Guard to help cool down the leather seats.
Since the Triton sold in the Philippines is sourced from Thailand, it would make sense for these updates to reach the local market. The LTO records show that MMPC has already secured approval for several GLX variants of the 2026 Triton. These include the GLX 2WD MT, GLX 4WD MT, and GLX 2WD AT. All of these will still use the same 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine (engine code 4N16) that powers the current models.

There is no mention yet of the GL, GLS, or Athlete variants in the latest listings. However, those could follow soon. In Thailand, the GLS trim received the Nanoe X air cleaner, while the Athlete model was updated with a low-speed function for its adaptive cruise control. It remains to be seen if these features will make it to the Philippine version. For styling, it is possible that the GLX models for the Philippine market could also get the same black trim used in Thailand’s Black Series version. It is not yet clear if local models will also get black wheels or if LED daytime running lights will be added to other variants.
Under the hood, no major changes are expected. The 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo-diesel engine will stay the same. In Thailand, this engine makes 181 hp and 430 Nm of torque in its single-turbo version and 201 hp and 470 Nm with the twin-turbo setup. While this is only a minor update, the timing suggests Mitsubishi wants to keep the Triton fresh as new pickups enter the market. New rivals include the next-generation Toyota Hilux, the redesigned Nissan Navara (which is a close sibling to the Triton), an updated Ford Ranger, and new models from Chinese brands.
