While Ford has already confirmed that the all-electric Mustang Mach-E is heading to the Philippines, it looks like they’re preparing something else, too, which is a plug-in hybrid version of the Territory.
Related: Brazil’s new Ford Territory could be a sign of what’s to come here in the Philippines
If you’ve been following updates, you might remember that Brazil just revealed a refreshed version of the Territory about a week ago. Since it’s based on the same model sold locally, we had a feeling the Philippines could be next in line for the update. Lo and behold, a new Territory with “Hybrid” in the name has quietly shown up in the latest LTO homologation list.
What’s interesting is that the listed vehicle includes “Hybrid” in its name. No torque figures were shown, but the power output of 218 horsepower matches the numbers from the Equator Sport PHEV in China, which is basically the same vehicle. There are no mild-hybrid or regular hybrid versions of the Equator Sport or Territory, so this gives a strong hint that the Philippine unit will also be a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
The Chinese-market version pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a single electric motor, connected to a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). It also uses an 18.4kWh lithium-ion battery, giving it up to 100 km of battery-only driving range based on WLTC. Ford China claims a full tank and battery can cover up to 1,324 km, and with a fast charger, the battery can go from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 14 minutes.
A plug-in hybrid Ford Territory might be coming to the Philippines
The theory about the Territory going hybrid may not be just a theory anymore. A new model with “Hybrid” in the name has quietly appeared on the LTO list

Ford China claims a full tank and battery can cover up to 1,324 km, and with a fast charger, the battery can go from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 14 minutes.

Fuel efficiency is also good, with figures going as high as 23.25 km/L, which makes it one of the more efficient crossovers in its category. For now, there’s still no sign of a non-hybrid or turbo-only version of the new Territory, raising questions about whether Ford Philippines will skip it altogether and go all-in on the PHEV version. That would be a rather daring move, although considering the demand for fuel-efficient and hybrid cars lately, it might just be the right one.
Until Ford makes an official announcement, all we can do is keep an eye out. But with the model already appearing on LTO records, it might not be long before this electrified Territory makes its local debut. While we wait for more details, feel free to explore the current Territory and the rest of the Ford lineup at AutoDeal.com.ph.
