And just like that, the Mazda MX-5 has been on Philippine roads for 10 years. Mazda’s fourth-generation MX-5, known to fans as the “ND Miata,” has reached its 10th year in the Philippines. First launched in 2015, it was made to have the look of a classic roadster with Mazda’s “Jinba-Ittai” philosophy to make the car feel like an extension of the driver. With its lightweight, balanced handling, and open-top design, the MX-5 offers an easy and enjoyable driving experience for both new and experienced drivers.

Recent updates in 2024 brought in track-focused features such as Kinematic Posture Control, Dynamic Stability Control with Track Mode, and an Asymmetric Limited Slip Differential. These join the MX-5’s core setup of a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine producing 184 PS, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Mazda Philippines has also built a strong community around the MX-5 through club activities, motorsport events, and organized drives. President Steven Tan says the MX-5 remains one of Mazda’s most iconic models, offering driving fun both on the road and on the track.

Who would’ve thought it’s already been a decade since the MX-5 first rolled into the Philippines? It’s been a decade of weekend drives, track days, and loyal fans.
