If you think you’ve seen every crossover under the sun, then JAECOO is set to change that. Meet the JAECOO J7 SHS, a hybrid compact crossover that’s set to make an already busy segment even more crowded.

Now, if you’ve been keeping up with JAECOO’s progress here in the Philippines, then you might already be familiar with the J7; nevertheless, it never hurts to have a quick refresher on what this crossover brings to the table.

Starting with the exterior, the J7 has an upright, squared-off stance and commanding presence. Up front, it has a vertically slatted grille that dominates the fascia, flanked by sleek, high-set LED daytime running lights that give it a sharp, modern gaze. The main headlamp clusters sit lower on the bumper, framing the front fascia into one cohesive look.

At the sides, the J7 has a clean yet muscular vibe with strong shoulder lines and subtly flared wheel arches that house either 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant. The blacked-out roof and pillars create a floating roof effect, while gloss-black trims on the windows and the doors give it a sporty look.

Around the back, the J7’s silhouette tapers slightly at the rear window and tailgate, complemented by a roof spoiler and minimalist rear lighting elements that maintain the clean and premium theme.

JAECOO J7 SHS Exterior

Starting with the exterior, the J7 has an upright, squared-off stance and commanding presence. Up front, it has a vertically slatted grille that dominates the fascia, flanked by sleek, high-set LED daytime running lights that give it a sharp, modern gaze. The main headlamp clusters sit lower on the bumper, framing the front fascia into one cohesive look.

At the sides, the J7 has a clean yet muscular vibe with strong shoulder lines and subtly flared wheel arches that house either 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant. Around the back, the J7’s silhouette tapers slightly at the rear window and tailgate, complemented by a roof spoiler and minimalist rear lighting elements that maintain the clean and premium theme.

JAECOO J7 Moving Shot

Moving to the powertrain, the J7 SHS is propelled by, as you guessed it, JAECOO’s Super Hybrid System (SHS). At its heart is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that functions as a range extender, paired with an electric motor delivering a combined output of 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. On its own, the gasoline engine produces 141 hp and 215 Nm of torque.

Power is sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a dedicated hybrid transmission, with driving modes that include Economy, Normal, and Sport to suit different preferences. Despite its promise of a fuel-efficient drive, the J7 is rather quick. According to JAECOO, the J7 SHS can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.

JAECOO J7 SHS Interior

When it comes to tech features, the Comfort variant features a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the Premium variant upgrades to a larger 14-inch display paired with a high-quality Sony audio system. Both trims include a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster and voice control, while ambient lighting, power-adjustable seats, and leather upholstery are exclusive to the Premium variant..

On the safety front, all variants come standard with six airbags covering the front, side, and curtain areas, as well as ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Hill-Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control. The Premium model also offers a 360-degree camera system with a see-through mode, providing a clear view of the vehicle’s surroundings for easier maneuvering in tight spaces.

Exclusive to the Premium variant are advanced assistance systems such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent High Beam Control.

As for the price, the JAECOO J7 SHS Comfort is priced at P1,449,000, while the top-trim Premium comes in at P1,459,000. If that price sounds sweet, JAECOO will be offering the J7 SHS at a special introductory price until September 15, 2025, which is P1,399,000 and P1,499,000 for the Comfort and Premium variants respectively. Available colors include Moonlight Silver, Khaki White, Carbon Crystal Black, Olive Gray, and Model Green.
